Sony mandates that new PlayStation 4 games must support PlayStation 5
Much like when they introduced the PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony has mandated that all upcoming PlayStation 4 games entering certification after July 13th must support PlayStation 5.
Third-party developers have received updated guidelines, and an option for supporting PlayStation 5 was added to PlayStation 4 dev kits in April.
Same features: Sony will be contacting each partner studio individually to help them find a way to test their games on PlayStation 5 hardware. To be considered compatible, the game must run without issues and offer the same features on PlayStation 4 and 5.
No going back: Any patch or update to titles certified before July 13th won’t need to add compatibility, but underscore that it is “strongly recommended” to do so. Once a title has been certified backwards-compatible, the compatibility can not be removed. PlayStation 5 is still on track for a holiday season release.

Daily Fact
Wanna cheat? Then hug an ursadon!
StarCraft was actually ported to console, appearing on Nintendo 64 in 2000 as StarCraft 64. In the PC version, you could cheat by typing commands, but on Nintendo 64 you had to hug an ursadon.
To unlock the cheat, you had to crowd your units around an ursadon creature who would then ask for a hug. After the hug, you could activate the cheat from the pause menu. StarCraft 64 also had a slightly different campaign storyline, different tutorials and a bonus mission called Resurrection IV which unlocked when you had completed the entire game.
