Shhhh, they might hear you in Pyongyang

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory could not be sold in South Korea until 2006 since the game depicted a conflict between North and South Korea that resulted in the destruction of Seoul.

It’s all fun and games until the Fire Nation attacks

South Korea is not too happy about media portraying military action against North Korea, since it could alter political sentiments and pave the way for a real conflict. Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 2 (Ubisoft) and Mercenaries: Playgrounds of Destruction (LucasArts) were also temporarily banned in South Korea for the same reason.

Uncharted 4 is finally coming to PC

PlayStation exclusives are trickling over to PC

PlayStation's Game & Network Services division has delivered a report which reveals that the PlayStation 5 console will break even by next month, even though persistent stock shortages mean there is a lot of unmet demand.

PlayStation 4 remains the key platform, accounting for around 95% of all sales on PlayStation Store. Sony hopes PlayStation 5 could account for up to 30% percent by the end of this financial year.

PC ports: The report also includes a section discussing planned PC releases, which lists several game logos including Days Gone and, surprisingly, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. The section also suggests that more first-party PlayStation games are coming to PC.

Revision: Sony will also be investing more in cloud streaming technology, and a new PlayStation 5 hardware revision is already in development. Paperwork related to the new model was spotted on May 23rd.

How did Guybrush Threepwood get his first name?

He's Guybrush Threepwood, and he's a mighty pirate!

ANSWER: A filename!

Monkey Island is a true classic, one of the first comedy games and arguably the game that led to the point-and-click adventure game dominating PC gaming in the early 90s. Guybrush Threepwood is a perfect symbol for the series’ irreverent tone, but did you know his much-lampooned name was actually an accident? Guybrush was designed by Sam & Max creator Steve Purcell, who used Deluxe Paint to create the sprite. He didn’t have a name yet, so he was referred to as the guy.

When Purcell saved his work, he called the file guybrush to show that it was the brush file for the guy sprite. Soon everyone on the team was calling him Guybrush, and the name stuck. An internal contest solicited suggestions for his last name, and thus Guybrush Threepwood was born. A perfect example of how the creative process is often a series of happy accidents.
