Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2, Gamedec Hands-on

Today: Get ready to be confused: the Kingdom Hearts series is out on PC — Gamedec is a neon-noir isometric detective role-playing game — EA revives the PGA Tour series after more than half a decade

Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 change list

CD Projekt Red is finally getting ready to release Cyberpunk 2077 v1.2, complete with a truly epic change list, after a bit of a delay following a cyber attack on the company.

Almost time to patch that dodgy cyberware

There are loads of fixes, resolving everything from snags in quests to inappropriate NPC barks and tidying up graphical glitches. It's big enough that the patch notes are broken up into sections:

  • Quests
  • Open World
  • Cinematic Design
  • Environment and levels
  • Graphics, audio, animation
  • UI
  • Stability and performance
  • Miscellaneous
  • PC-specific
  • Console-specific

Shaky launch: Cyberpunk 2077 had a rocky launch despite being the most pre-ordered game ever and selling like hotcakes on release. The base models of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One struggled to run the game, many users reported spectacular bugs and others were simply disappointed that the game wasn't exactly as they had expected.

The whole story: Four months later, Cyberpunk 2077 is closer to living up to its potential, thanks to numerous patches. The upcoming DLC will expand the story, and it will be interesting to see if CD Projekt RED can turn the tide on the troubled project.

Daring heists and explosive pre-orders

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was the target of a heist just before its launch. Two masked robbers forced a delivery truck to stop and made off with 6,000 copies of the game, with a retail price of €400,000 – the biggest videogame heist ever.

Modern Warfare 3 had a hot launch

The robbers used tear gas to incapacitate the drivers while they made off with the cargo. That wasn’t the only instance of criminal conduct surrounding Modern Warfare 3: A man from Aurora, Colorado ended up in court after threatening to blow up a Best Buy for failing to deliver his pre-order.

Crash Bandicoot 4 ‘always online’ DRM

The PC version of Crash Bandicoot 4 features always-online DRM, despite not having any multiplayer modes, and will only be available through

Always online DRM is rarely welcomed by users

That means you can't play without an internet connection, and it's quite possible that the game will stop working if your internet connection drops during play.

Server outage: The game will run an authenticity check every time you start it, and there have already been reports of failed authenticity checks. Always-online DRM has a bit of a dubious reputation, particularly when applied to singleplayer games, since it adds an unnecessary potential point of failure.

4K and DRM: On the other hand, the PC version supports 4K resolution and uncapped framerate and was developed by the team behind the well-received Spyro Reignited Trilogy, a faithful yet modern remake of the classic Spyro games.

Gamedec Hands-on Preview

Developer: Anshar

Version Tested: PC

Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled round their shores.

Following the somewhat controversial launch of Cyberpunk 2077, it's easy to be a bit disillusioned with the whole cyberpunk thing – but Gamedec's noir cyberpunk detective story offers an intriguingly different take on neon-tinged corporate dystopias.

The demo presents the case of Ezra, a friend of the titular cyber-sleuth found dead wearing holographic wings. The case throws you right into the thick of the game, with loads of world-building and characters to take in. Most importantly, the line between the virtual and the real has blurred, and it is no longer easy to distinguish between objective fact and subjective experience.

Fiery the angels fell. Deep thunder rolled round their shores

Talk to people, investigate the crime scene and construct yourself a hypothesis: Could it be a suicide? An accident? A murder committed in virtual reality? The game actually presents you with a deduction screen that lists the different possibilities and the evidence for and against them.

The full game will let you customize your protagonist and pick a background, and the preview build presented a detective with a medical background. That means you can tinker with medbots and make clinical assessments of evidence to add to your hypotheses. There were also some unavailable options, which can presumably be explored with characters of different background.

GameDec promises a lot of skills that the current demo doesn't show

How thoroughly you investigate also influences how the case plays out. You can miss clues and if you don't weigh your words carefully you might end up antagonizing witnesses. Choices actually matter – as long as you can resist the temptation to reload when you mess something up.

Gamedec offers an unusual world, and it's always interesting to see a game that avoids combat in favour of more intellectual pursuits. The demo has a surprising number of possible paths, and it bodes well for the final game – although it's not at all clear how much the different backgrounds will influence events. The demo is available on Steam if you want to play detective yourself.

What was the first PGA Tour game to be endorsed by Tiger Woods?

ANSWER: PGA Tour 99!

It’s crazy to think this was cutting edge

EA has always been a licensing powerhouse, and one of its greatest achievements was securing Tiger Woods as the face of PGA Tour Golf 99. That didn’t come cheap, however: The licensing deal cost around $10 million, but resulted in sixteen games using Tiger Woods’ name and likeness.

The final game featuring Tiger Woods was PGA Tour 14, after which Rory McIlroy became the face of the franchise for one game before EA shelved the whole series – until now. Perhaps the time has come for the original social distancing sport to become a national pastime once again?
