EA and DICE are going back to Battlefield’s roots after 2042 fiasco

Battlefield 2042 specialists

It's hardly a secret that Battlefield 2042 has been a huge mess, trying and arguably failing to redefine the Battlefield experience while disappointing both new and old players.

That clearly hasn't dissuaded EA and DICE from trying again: There's a new Battlefield in the works, which will apparently move away from the hero shooter template and back towards the series' roots.

Specialists: Players were not thrilled about DICE dropping classes in favour of named specialist characters with rather unwelcome personalities spouting one-liners and quips.

Moving on: The next game is apparently also set in the near-future, and since there has not been any official announcement we will just have to wait and see. Until then DICE will be supporting Battlefield 2042.

Frogwares is still keeping it up despite being based in war-torn Ukraine and is working with external partners to deliver the final DLC for Sherlock Holmes Chapter One.

The Switch version of Sherlock Holmes: The Devils’ Daughter is also still in development, and will launch on April 27th. Frogwares is doing its best to “adapt to the situation” and survive.

Bleak time: “Nobody on the team is expected to work, only those who can and want to. Some on the team have become full-time volunteers in the humanitarian efforts around the country. Others have joined the defense forces,” said CEO Wael Amr.

Still going: Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One M For Mystery is out now for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Sherlock Holmes: The Devils’ Daughter for Switch will only be available on the eShop.

What cartoon was Them’s Fightin’ Herds originally based on?

Twilight Sparkle and Applejack squaring down in Fighting is Magic before it became Them's Fightin' Herds

ANSWER: My Little Pony!

Who can forget the Brony culture? It even spawned a pretty good fan game! It started out as My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic, a fighting game where the adorable little horses beat each other to a pulp. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Hasbro asked the developers to stop what they were doing.

That did not stop the developers, though: The copyrighted equines simply became legally distinct ungulates. Lauren Faust, one of My Little Pony's showrunners, helped design new fighters for what became Them's Fightin' Herds while Tara Strong lent her voice talents.
