Today: Microsoft couldn’t beat Sony or Nintendo in November — Avalanche co-founder opens new studio focused on giant spectacle — Bungie managed to raise $400,000 for charity in just 2 days

Fortnite season finale hit 1.5m viewers

The fourth season of Fortnite just culminated in a huge live event where Galactus showed up and backhand-slapped players off a Helicarrier.

Galactus finally arrives to do battle on the Island

The event reached 1.5 million viewers on Twitch, and there's an avalanche of videos showing the whole event from a variety of angles.

Marvel madness: The event started on a Helicarrier, but after the gigantic Galactus knocked everyone off, they got into battle Buses and drove into the Marvel villain's gaping maw instead. At the end of the event, a timer appeared and the 8 hour countdown to the start of the fifth season began.

Live action: The event was largely non-interactive, and it was more of a live, in-game teaser for the next season. The first major Fortnite live event was the infamous end to Fortnite Chapter 1, where a black hole swallowed the game.

Fearless wireframe stunt driving

You could unlock a secret track by completing the tournament mode in Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver by Semi Logic Entertainments and Mattel Media. Of course, you also needed to jump through a few hoops to get to enjoy the extra content.

Enjoy these majestic rolling hills of wireframe green

After beating the tournament, go to the level select menu, and then click around the left half of the Mattel logo, which causes the music to change. Start the race, and you’ll find yourself on an apparently unfinished track with bright primary colors and a wireframe backdrop.

Which band composed Doom 3’s theme and soundtrack?

ANSWER: Tweaker!

Before you kill demons, make sure to rock out first

Doom 3 and its turn towards pitch-black horror had a bit of a mixed reception, but it’s got a banging theme tune. Composed by Clint Walsh and Chris Vrenna of Tweaker, it’s a nice, atmospheric industrial metal track perfect for a little battle against the slavering hordes of hell.

However, Tweaker wasn’t id Software’s first choice of composer. Trent Reznor was originally hired to do the soundtrack, but the game’s long and hard development process meant that the Nine Inch Nails frontman’s compositions didn’t fit the final product. id Software handed the reins to Tweaker, and they composed a mix of ambient and metal that perfectly complimented Doom 3’s horror.
