George R.R. Martin finished his work on Elden Ring years ago

Elden Ring is due for launch mid-January 2022

Game of Thrones author George R. R. Martin has revealed that his contributions to Elden Ring were completed years ago.

His job was to establish the world-building of Elden Ring's fantasy universe, before handing the reins to the studio that would bring Elden Ring to life.

Foundation: Martin “worked up a fairly detailed background for them” and said “these games, they’re like movies, they take a long time to develop.” He hasn’t seen much of the game since that time.

Inspiration: Of course, the author wasn't left completely in the dark: “They would come and periodically show me some monsters they’d designed”. Game director Hidetaka Miyazaki says Martin's contributions were things they “couldn't have done by ourselves”.

Controversial best friends forever

Harvest Moon DS: Cute gave you the option of having a female “best friend” instead of a husband, but was deemed too untraditional for Western tastes, and was unfortunately removed from the localized version released in 2008.

Marriage and friendship in Forget-Me-Not Valley

Therefore, same-sex marriage was not included because Marvelous Entertainment decided to avoid rating board changes by just snipping out the prospective very close friends and kept to the man/woman school of farming, much to the annoyance of many western fans.

Alan Wake Remastered ‘found’ on Epic

Alan Wake Remastered lurks in the shadows for now

The murky depths of Epic Games Store holds secrets, and brave data miners have unearthed what appears to be an Alan Wake remaster from the hidden listings.

A listing called HeronStaging suggests that Remedy is bringing back Alan Wake, 11 years after it launched on Xbox 360.

Epic delving: EpicData is a website tracking the latest goings-on at Epic Games Store, and the data they gleaned specifically mentions Alan Wake Remastered.

Big swords too: Signs also point towards a PC version of Final Fantasy VII Remake. Some snippets of evidence were first found in 2019 and then more in 2020, but they have recently been updated, suggesting PC gamers might be in for a treat soon.

What was the first Yakuza game to feature karaoke?

He has the voice of an angel and the right hook of a devil.

ANSWER: Yakuza 3!

Yakuza 3 isn't the most fondly remembered game in the series, but it did introduce the joys of karaoke to the Kamurochō underworld. It became a series staple and showed that even hardened criminals can show their soft sides by belting out tender love ballads in between curb-stomping fools.

Yakuza's karaoke didn't become a meme unto itself before Yakuza 0's stunning rendition of Baka Mitai. It's the perfect example of the series' tightrope balancing act between goofy comedy and serious crime drama. Of course, it also helps that Kazama Kiryu's voice actor Takaya Kuroda is a singer with a band called Takaya Kuroda & Goodfellas. He may be bad, but he sounds good.
