Nintendo ‘Ask a Dev’ on OLED & Joy-Cons

Two Switch Joy-Con controllers

Ask the Developer Vol. 2 – Part 4 interviews Ko Shiota and Toru Yamashita of Nintendo about what's new in the Switch OLED model.

They talk about the new version of the system-on-a-chip at the heart of the Switch, which also powered Switch Lite and helps extend battery life – particularly in handheld mode.

Revisions: The Joy-Cons have also been under continual development, and the “analog-stick parts have continuously been improved since launch, and we are still working on improvements,” said Yamashita.

Up-to-date: The analog sticks included with the OLED model Joy-Cons are “the latest version with all the improvements,”, which are also being bundled with recent Switch and Switch Lite models as well as being sold separately.

Who played Edward Carnaby in the Alone in the Dark movie?

Christian Slater alongside Tara Reid in 2005's Alone in the Dark

ANSWER: Christian Slater!

It's not exactly shocking or surprising when a videogame movie adaptation sucks, but Alone in the Dark truly plumbs unusual depths of suckage. Directed by the notorious Uwe Boll and starring a hapless Christian Slater, it was Boll's second game movie after House of the Dead. Slater bumbles around trying to stop a demonic invasion along with Tara Reid, who's cast as an archeologist.

The movie builds on Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, but at its heart, this is really an Aliens knock-off. Even if the adaptation stayed faithful to the games, it would still be a blandly acted, poorly shot affair with cheap special effects. Boll really earned the 1% rating this film has on Rotten Tomatoes.
