Mysterious Elden Ring colosseum could hint at future DLC

Today: Square Enix delays Forspoken until later this year — Lego Star Wars: Skywalker Saga won’t be limited to just the nine main series movies — The Oliver Twins’ forgotten masterpiece Glover returns

Steam Deck update fixes analogue drift

Fan explores Elden Ring colosseum

During your journeys in Elden Ring's dark fantasy realm, you may have come across closed-off arenas which prompt an AI-controlled invader to intrude into your game.

For example, there is a large colosseum in Limgrave with a guard outside, and a ghostly figure wondering why the entrance is blocked. Fans are obviously speculating about what this could mean, and the consensus is that it's teasing upcoming DLC.

  • Elden Ring hit 734,000 concurrent Steam users at launch
  • All-time peak of 953,426 concurrent players on Steam
  • Surpassed Dark Souls III and Sekiro launches
  • Debuted at the top of the UK sales chart, the most successful Souls-like so far

Sneaking in: A player managed to get out of bounds and fly inside the Limgrave colosseum, recording an unofficial tour of the mostly complete but still unlit arena.

PvP battles: There is more than one colosseum in the Lands Between, and they could be dedicated PvP arenas or boss rushes, or maybe entirely custom challenges.

Luminous delays Forspoken until autumn

Luminous Productions delay statement

Square Enix has delayed Luminous Productions' upcoming action RPG Forspoken from May 24th until October 11th.

The game stars the young woman Frey Holland, who is transported from New York City to the fantasy land Athia, where she discovers she has magical powers that both help and hinder her quest to find a way back home.

Forspoken is the first big delay announced this year, and is most likely a result of the continued disruptions caused by COVID-19. Square Enix is probably also a bit worried thanks to Babylon's Fall's less-than-stellar performance and wants to make sure Forspoken lives up to expectations.

Statement: “Our vision for this exciting new IP is to deliver a game world and hero that gamers across the globe will want to experience for years to come, so getting it right is extremely important to us.”

Extra time: The studio will spend the extra development time polishing the game before it launches for PC and PlayStation 5 this autumn.

Open galaxy: The Skywalker Saga includes all nine mainline Star Wars films, features no less than 24 planets presented as an open-world action-adventure, and even features classic mumbled dialogue.

Season Pass: The Character Collection Season Pass will include all the spin-off DLCs, two of which will be available at launch: The Mandalorian Season 1 and Classic Character Pack.

Which YouTube-based musician helped develop the party game Use Your Words?

A prompt in Use Your Words, asking players If Your Buttcheeks had names, what would they be?

ANSWER: Brentalfloss!

Did you know Brentalfloss designed a game? You might know his “With Lyrics” series, which turns instrumental game music into comedy ditties, but he's also worked with Julian Spillane to make a party game. If you've played Quiplash, it's pretty similar.

You and your fellow players are prompted to write something funny and jot it down on your smartphone. You will be prompted to write something like a newspaper headline, a subtitle for a foreign film, or just any old sentence. Use Your Words is definitely ripping off the Jackbox series, but that doesn't stop it from being jolly good fun with the right crowd.

We should expect more delays this year, and we're left wondering what the Babylon's Fall and Forspoken developments mean for FINAL FANTASY XVI, perhaps we'll find out tomorrow evening?
