Xbox Series X And PlayStation 5 Pushed Back

“Strong likelihood” of next-gen delays

More and more industry events are being cancelled in the face of the growing COVID-19 pandemic, and analysts claim there is a “strong likelihood” of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X getting delayed until 2021.

The emergency response protocols implemented by affected countries has crippled several industries in the short term, and disrupted the supply chain for console manufacturing.

Short-term delay: “Coronavirus is likely to have a major short-term impact on the delivery of both systems," said analyst firm DFC Intelligence. “There is a strong likelihood one or both systems will not make a 2020 launch."

Long-term demand: The world’s economy is in an "unprecedented state of uncertainty,” they added, but despite this “[C]onsumer demand is likely to be stronger than ever. Demand will far exceed supply and long-term that could increase overall sales.”

The upcoming Pokémon Regional Championships events have been cancelled to prevent COVID-19 spread according to the official Pokémon website. Quiz Answer - Did You Get It Right?

Which Doom adaptation are Doom 2's achievement titles “Rip and Tear” and “You Have Huge Guts” referring to?

Answer: The Doom Comic!

Did you know there was a Doom comic? It's not particularly famous, there was only one issue released in 1996 – and it is pretty darn buckwild even for Doom.

The comic stars everyone's favorite Doom Guy doing what he does best: Killing demons. That's pretty much all the plot and context you get too, and the doom guy delivers classily solipsistic one-liners like "Yeah, that's your spinal cord, baby! DIG IT!" and "The humanity! My big gun is out of bullets!", presumably to himself unless the hordes of hell took an English course before invading Mars.

The comic was only printed to be given away at a convention, so it's not easy to come by these days. If you want a double-barreled load of 90s comic insanity and come to share our appreciation of Doom Guy's sumptuously sinewy neck, you can read a scanned copy at Doomworld, but be warned: Side-effects include an urge to yell “RIP AND TEAR! RIP AND TEAR!” at inopportune times.
