Switch sold 103.54m units by end of 2021
Nintendo's latest financial report states that the Switch has passed the 100 million sales mark, meaning it has sold faster than PlayStation 4 and Wii, although Nintendo DS still has it beat.
The Switch has now outsold both the Wii and the original PlayStation, and the games are going pretty strong too: Metroid Dread has passed 2.74 million sales.

Mario Kart 8 has now sold 43.35 million units on Switch, so when you add the millions it sold on Wii U the total sales pass 50 million units. Luigi's Mansion 3 has sold 11.04 million copies, while Pokémon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl has sold almost 14 million units. Pokémon Sword & Shield overtook Gold & Silver's 23.7 million sales, reaching 23.9 million.
Outsourcing: Nintendo’s Shuntaro Furukawa ruled out third-party licensed projects, saying its games were “crafted with dedication by our employees, and having a large number of people who don’t possess Nintendo DNA in our group would not be a plus to the company".
Metaverse & NFTs: Nintendo was briefly asked about the Metaverse and NFTs during a Q&A session that followed the financial results, and executives responded by saying that there's an interest in this area, and Nintendo feels that it has potential.
"We do have interest in this area, we feel the potential in this area, but we wonder what joy we can provide in this area and this is difficult to define right now," said Nintendo in response. Analyst David Gibson, who reported on the comments, was quick to point out that this was mainly related to the Metaverse, not NFTs.
