Xbox Live Doubles in Price, Pokémon ‘Save Edit’ Bans

Today: PlayStation 5 owners can try out a Resident Evil Village teaser demo today — Zero Wing had 35 endings, but they were too difficult to translate — CD Projekt RED will not ask for your game disc after refunding.

All your endings are belong to us

Zero Wing is most famous for its hilariously terrible translation, which became an online phenomenon in the early 2000s and spawned the infamous All Your Base Are Belong To Us meme.

Zero Wing is a side-scrolling shooter with co-op

Aside from the translation taking rather excessive liberties with the English language, some of the dialogue is actually missing from the translation. Zero Wing also had 35 different endings, but they were all exclusive to the Japanese version.

The international version had only one ending, probably because the poor localization team had no chance to properly translate all the Japanese pop culture references in the original endings.

Microsoft increase Xbox Live Gold prices

Microsoft is finally revising the pricing for the Xbox Live Gold subscription service, no less than 18 years after the service launched.

The now slightly higher bill has come due

The price change won't affect you if you have an active 6 or 12 month subscription since you already have an agreement in place, but you will be subject to the new rates when you renew your subscription.

  • 1 month of Xbox Live Gold will cost $10.99, increasing by $1
  • 3 months of Xbox Live Gold will cost $29.99, increasing by $5

Pricing review: “Periodically, we assess the value and pricing of our services to reflect changes in regional marketplaces and to continue to invest in the Xbox community; we’ll be making price adjustments for Xbox Live Gold in select markets,” according to the Xbox Blog.

Not immediate: Prices won’t be increased “until at least 45 days after” you are notified by Microsoft for those affected. If you convert a Gold membership to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, all your remaining Xbox Live Gold time will be transferred with no additional costs incurred.

Save game tamperers kicked off Pokémon online platforms in wave of bans

The Pokémon Company has banned players found editing save game files for Pokémon Sword & Shield and Pokémon Home.

This won’t likely be the last save edit purge

Since Sword & Shield is partly an online game and ties into the Pokémon Home platform where players can trade, The Pokémon Company is trying to strongly discourage players from tampering with their data.

Home-less Trainers: What does a ban entail? You will lose access to Pokémon Home and will no longer be able to use any of Sword & Shield’s online trading service. Bans can be temporary or permanent, depending on how extensive the save game editing is and you will not be eligible for a refund for your subscription if you are banned from Pokémon Home.

Which Rare game supported input from two Nintendo 64 controllers?

ANSWER: Goldeneye!

If you can’t invite anyone for a match, don’t let that second controller go to waste!

Rare used to be a hugely ambitious developer, and they tried all kinds of wacky things in their Nintendo 64 games. For example, GoldenEye 007 can be played in a sort of proto-dual-analogue mode by connecting two controllers and adjusting the control scheme in the settings menu – 4 years head of Halo.

There weren't a lot of games featuring dual-analogue input on Nintendo 64 apart from Rare's first-person shooters, but enough for YouTube channel Stop Skeletons From Fighting to make a video rounding up all the games supporting it.
